TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The latest effort to get rid of the time change was the Sunshine Protection Act. This would get rid of the time change altogether and make daylight saving time the new standard time.
This bill is currently stuck in the Senate, but there is a resolution in Ohio called HCR 10, which urges Congress to act.
“We actually don’t have the power at the state level to make the change, so the resolution is urging Congress to pass what they already have introduced and have had hearings on multiple times, which is to stay in permanent daylight-saving time,” State Representative Beryl Brown Piccolantonio said.
When the time flips back and forth, it increases the risk of cardiac issues, car accidents and mental health struggles.
